The Rotary Club of Waupaca engages in many activities that help support the unique needs of our local community.
COMMUNITY SERVICE GRANTS
The Rotary Club of Waupaca provides $5,000-$10,000 annual for grants to Waupaca area organizations to support on-going community programs and new project initiatives. One of the above photos highlights some recent grants for Fire Department Fire Prevention Education, the Heroin Education Conference, Middle School Band equipment and the Waupaca Schools PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) program.
Rotary Grants Approved in 2015:
$2,500 (WITH MATCHING Rotary District Grant) PBIS
$1,000 Fox Valley Tech Scholarships (benefits 2 area youth)
$2,600 Waupaca Library Early Literacy Installation (benefits all young people and families that visit the library)
$1,000 CAP Services Fresh Start Program
$3,000 CAP Services Skills Enhancement Program
$1,500 Boy’s and Girl’s Brigade camp at Onaway Island (benefits 3-4 Waupaca area youth)
$500 Sponsor Teen Author for the Waupaca BookFest (benefits students in the Waupaca High School & Rotary Exchange students)
$4,000 to sponsor an outbound student
$150 to sponsor a Free Family Movie Night in the Park
HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY Every year since 2006, Rotary members have worked with a high school class on community service projects organized by the students. This has expanded so that now all high school classes participate in annual projects.
DONATIONS AND DRIVES
The Rotary Club of Waupaca helps address local community needs through various member donation projects – examples shown above include food Pantry collection, promoting blood drives for the Community Blood Center, a summer reading book drive, and suggested items collection for King Veterans.
ROTARY RIVERVIEW PARK
Since 2005, The Rotary Club of Waupaca has been raising funds to maintain and update Riverview Park in Waupaca. The city has since changed the name to Rotary Riverview Park. The Club continues to raise funds for park maintenance and improvements through an aluminum can recycling program, and every year the club plants flowers and helps maintain the park for the citizens of Waupaca to enjoy.
